In February 2013, OneHope completed market research in Kenya in order to inform the Program for Pastoral Instruction (PPI) program. Research revealed that more classes were taught by teachers than volunteers, and that about two thirds of these teachers had not received training. Additionally, about half had no teaching resources or materials available to them. Also of note, an overwhelming majority of the teachers outside of the capital believed that lack of resources was a barrier to conducting PPI in their school.
