In January 2014, OneHope completed market research regarding the experience of Syrian refugee children and youth as a result of the mass exodus into neighboring countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey. The research revealed that these young people are in need of attentive care and treatment of emotional and psychosocial needs that stem from trauma and recent life-altering experiences, provisions for adequate and accessible physical and basic needs such as education, finances and adequate housing and that churches and consistent relief-based programs can have a positive impact on these children and families.
